CLINTON HOUSEThe transition between incarceration and the community is one of the most difficult that a person must make. Moving from a totally controlled environment to one where there are few or no restrictions and a variety of temptations prove to be the downfall of many offenders who return to crime. The New Jersey Association on Correction has actively worked to ease this transition through the provision of halfway houses or community release centers for over thirty seven years. Participation in a halfway house program is voluntary. Residents choose to come to a program the understanding that they will conform to the house rules and the program contract, which they design and develop with the assistance of the counseling staff. These plans incorporate personal goals as well as employment, counseling, education and financial needs. Mercer CountyResidentialNew Jersey Association on Correction

Good Neighbors - Community Living for People with DisabilitiesOur goal is to be responsive to your concerns, and ensure that our community homes continue to be an asset to both the residents and their neighborhoods. Consider the following: Most group homes for people with physical or mental disabilities qualify for a Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) bonus. Group homes may qualify for a "two-for-one" credit, based upon the number of bedrooms, toward a municipality’s COAH obligation. There are concerns that people with disabilities are dangerous and pose a threat to your communities. We want to assure you that hundreds of community living programs, developed during the last two decades, have proven that people with disabilities are good citizens. If people are considered to be a danger to themselves or others, a community living program is not recommended for them. Supportive HousingSupportive Housing Residence in Closter. The project entailed new construction of sixteen (16) modular efficiency apartments. The target population of the project is low income individuals with mental illness, including the chronically homeless. The project is a two story building that includes ample on-site parking, landscaped grounds, and offices for service and property staff. The development will include elevator service, common areas, and common laundry facilities. Every unit will have a private kitchen and bathroom. The development will offer efficiency units equipped with such market rate amenities as modern appliances, bamboo flooring, window blinds, ample closet space, security and emergency call features, and hardwiring for cable TV and internet access. This permanent supportive housing residence is the first in New Jersey funded through the Special Needs Housing Trust Fund administered by NJHMFA which is modular, Energy Star and Silver LEED certified?, says Vicki Sidrow.
